Honouring The West
“Join together and see within your minds eye what we may accomplish when we allow the sun and the rain to help us grow.” - OJO -
Today is a day that holds a special connection of the heart. I had originally planned to publish a piece of writing created specifically to honour the direction of the West. This was initially part of a ceremony done with seven other women on the Winter Solstice of 2008. We had been creating a ceremonial event honouring the seven directions: east -west -north -south -above -below -within, and each of us connecting to a specific direction for the ceremony. Mine being that of the West. In some well orchestrated hand of fate a snowfall came and kept us apart physically - rather unusual for where we lived on the West Coast of British Columbia Canada. In regard to what Mother Nature had gave us we joined through our hearts and continued with our ceremonies individually in physical form, yet collectively as s0(u)l sisters.
This was a magical and beautiful experience. I created a small 3 circuit stone & candle labyrinth in the centre of my living area and sat in silence watching the white blanket of solitude embrace the earth until it was time to read aloud my my offering to the the west. I will hold it forever in my heart!! So it is today, two years later,and I find myself in a new land on the East Coast of Quintana Roo Mexico. We remain connected through bodies of water and our hearts and souls. At times I feel so very far away yet I know through these types of experiences that I am closer than I have ever been to anyone or anywhere.
To my so(u)l sisters and brothers I offer my honouring to the West.....what had intended to be shared has been lost in the ethers of cyber space, so what has transformed are the ‘seed” words I used to convey the message of Spirit from the direction of the west. These I share with you to formulate your own creative expressions - whatever form that may take....enjoy your process!

darkness . going within . the unknown . dreams . deeper inner thoughts . testing of the will . perseverance . management of power . spiritual insight . daily prayer . meditation . reflection . contemplation . silence . being alone with oneself . respect for elders . respect for others’ beliefs . awareness of our spiritual nature . sacrifice . humility . love for the creator . commitment to the path of personal development . ceremony . clear self knowledge . vision (a sense of possibilities & probabilities)
Also to note are two totem animals of the West: the Black Bear who possesses great strengths and the Turtle who teaches us to go within. In the land of the Maya the Turtle (A’AK) has much significance - she is the Great Mother, and a little research will give you much inspiration into the far reaching stars that guide our way.
On this day of balance between light & dark we are gifted with wisdom - learn and love in the form of creative light!!!

Welcome to 13 Ahau - Circle of Light
“Within the circle of life, change is the eternal light that remains at the centre of creation.” - OJO -
For those who are guided by the heart, to know more, to experience more and create more, this blog spot is here to inspire and support each other as we travel our chosen paths of artistic expression and learning.
Posts will be sent out regularly on the day of Ahau. This is the 20th day sign of the Mayan Calendar, it is the day to celebrate Oneness & Light, to be guided by our ancestors and is a connection of creative union with the Universe. Posts will also be published on the Solstices & Equinoxes, with random intuitive events added along the way.
The focus of intention in beginning this blog spot is to bring together a platform, as beings of creative light living the human experience, to the forefront and join collectively. The forces of our individual expressions in artistic form vary - through the written word, building, teaching, visual & experiential art, cooking, serving, healing, care giving, gardening, etc. All of our daily activities are diverse facets of being part of the whole in these changing times.
The calling of service I have been given on the path is in working with Sacred Geometry. My first aware experience was with the Labyrinth and it has continued to be a source of learning and sharing that is a part of my souls blueprint. There have been many changes along the journey that I have now come to refer to as “the labyrinth of life” - where I am continually brought to my centre when following the path without resistance. This is the effortless effect of trusting in the process of allowance and detachment. There are no wrong turns when we listen from the heart. And as I follow - my steps of creation have expanded my knowledge and use of the geometry that exists throughout time.
These are some of the gifts we all share as we interact in the various stages of our lives. I have been gracefully gifted with many companions to walk with during this encounter, some of us travel together longer and some have been short but powerful impacts on the road. I live in deep gratitude and love for ALL - those who have been by my side and may come again to hold hands with - those who are with me NOW, physically, mentally & spiritually - those who are yet to still join me in the circle of light and life.
Along the journey my studies & experiences of and with the teachings of the Maya have also given me a truer connection with time and creation. Not that of the clock or the Gregorian Calendar system, but that of the rhythyms of the earth and the Sacred Calendar. It is a shift of awareness, that once begun, makes more sense internally than ever imagined. Yes, there are challenges, we must still meld with other operable systems at this stage - these challenges then produce seeds that we may plant and nurture into a new event in time.
The correlation of creativity and earth time are so entwined, yet we have lost touch of this for quite a period. Most of us have experienced that state of ‘bliss’ when we are in our creative environment - time as we know it stands still, and simultantaneously flashes into hours with no sense of it having gone by. We are in a ‘no time’ zone or a ‘k(now) time’ zone. There are many who believe that NOW is our opportunity to recognize once again that we are the creators of time. That we are all “art(s)ists” with different mediums to share.
As we learn to shift into a balanced system of left and right brain functions, we expand our hearts also. This is the centre of our light, our creative expression comes from the heart, and this is what we are here to do. Our intuitive connections and our balance of giving and receiving is found when we begin to live in this fashion. It is creative abundance!!!
As blog posts will be sent out on the day of light, it remains open for sharing by others at all times - the connection of our hearts is what continues to be important. In this sense the 13 Ahau - Circle of Light is a forum to express and contribute to our process of creation as we practice living in the light. It is designed to to share our art forms, our epiphanies and to send forth a shining star to guide others.
In closing this introduction of the 13 Ahau - Circle of Light blog spot, I wish to express the Mayan saying “In Lak’ech” - “I AM another you”. I look forward to new connections and re-connections on this journey through time & space. Distances may be far physically but hearts are entwined ethereally and souls eternally.
